Tears Over KBDN? I must admit to being confused when pilots over KBDN started saying they were doing a “teardrop entry”. Teardrop entries are for IFR, and not in my AIM! But AC_90-66B, Non-Towered Flight Operations, added the teardrop pattern entry as an addendum in late 2018. So new it is not in the published version. It is basically crossing midfield at 1,500 AGL, the a 270 degree turn onto downwind. Thanks to Mike Klock for educating me. November Fly-Out: For those with short memories, our November Fly-out was to Florence. What a wonderful day. 9 planes flew over on a smooth blue day. After bag lunches at the airport, and pleasant chats (socially distant, outdoors) with some locals, a few of us walked into town, and the river. Maybe we’ll go back and see Sea Lion Caves this summer? December Fly-out: The Weather Goddess granted us a short break in the weather, so several planes flew up to Madras. The FBO was all dressed up for Christmas. What a nice treat! Rob Berg dropped in and chatted with us. Not content, Kim Muinch and Gary Miller flew up the Metolius River, past the pillars. Just to see how rough the air was...
