Website http://co-opa.com February 2016, Vol. 2, Issue 16 President's Message: Global Warming has been good to us the last month. Some of you have had some fun flying in the last month and they'll be sharing their stories at this month's CO-OPA meeting. Participate in the sharing in the Professional Air lounge downstairs in the KBDN Flight Services Building this Thursday, the Third Thursday, 19 February, around 6pm. Bring some food for the potluck at 6:30pm, and the usual 'formal' meeting at 7pm. The weather recently has been, and is forecast to be, a bit nasty, except for this Saturday and our monthly Fly-Out. Even Salem is forecast to be nice. Let's plan to actually fly somewhere this month. But even to Burns, I hear the FBI has been real friendly to visiting pilots... Calendar: 18 February – Monthly Meeting 20 February – Monthly Fly-out 17 March – Monthly Meeting 19 March – Monthly Fly-out 21 April – Monthly Meeting 23 April – Monthly Fly-out 19 May – Monthly Meeting 21 May – Monthly Fly-out Newsletter Inputs: Send your newsletter tidbits to: January Fly-out (not): Our January weather was not bad, except for the front that passed overhead on our fly-out day. Instead we headed to KBDN and The Pickled Pig, the newest incarnation of eatery on the airport. The best innovation is self serve coffee, never a wait for a full cup. You can check out their menu on their website: www.thepickledpig.com My Inbox: Richard Benson sent in some nice aerial photos of the new pavement and markings no the Monument Airport (12S). His photos are on page 2. Note the car garage midfield, that belongs to Richard. At a published altitude of 2323 feet, a length of 2104 feet and a slope of 0.1% you would not think 12S would be an easy airport to land on. And it is, except that the slope is way more than 0.1%, your base leg is over a deep valley, and the uphill runway provides a novel site picture. The trick here is to focus on the TDZ and ignore your wildly varying height above the ground. If this looks like fun to you, give Richard a call, h is in our member directory.
