President's Message:

My rhododendrons are budding, and the geese are returning from
California. So much for winter, time to get on with Spring. Except
this weekend’s forecast is stuck in the middle of those two seasons.

It is again the Third Thursday (February 15) and time for our monthly
CO-OPA meeting. We have been meeting for 20 years in the same place,
but it is now the Leading Edge Jet Center. Fingers crossed that we can
still keep using their waiting room for our meetings. Decisions are
being made.

Per our long standing tradition, our CO-OPA festivities start at 6pm.
Chow down with our delicious potluck at 6:30pm, and finish up with a
short formal meeting at 7pm. Come and chat all things aviation.

The Intellicast web site (http://intellicast.com/) prognosticates a
50% chance of rain and 25 mph winds at noon this Saturday. Good news
is that the temperature should be 47F, so no ice on the roads. Does
not look like we are flying, or skidding, anywhere. Sunday does not
look much better. Bend has not had much winter this Winter, but enough
to get in the way of flying. We’ll decide on our Drive-In breakfast
destination at our meeting.

Friends in the local EAA Chapter 1345 report that their president
Thomas Phy is recovering, but has a long way to go. Last month we
airmailed him our best wishes, and it must have helped.

January Fly-Out(s):

The weather was marginal for our January Fly-out, so four of us
headed out to the South Bend Shari’s Cafe & Pies. The one on the
south side of Bend, not the one in the city of South Bend in Indiana.
A good time was had by all, and we came up with solutions to all the
world’s problems.

On February 11, Richard Mayes of the Recreational Aviation Foundation
(RAF) put together a Fly-Out to Paisley. Sadly the weather turned ugly
and it was canceled. Two local aircraft and five people did some local
flight-seeing and headed to The Pickled Pig for lunch. In the end, a
nice day in spite of the weather.

Calendar:

15 February – Monthly Meeting
17 February – Monthly Fly-out
15 March – Monthly Meeting
17 March – Monthly Fly-out
19 April – Monthly Meeting
21 April – Monthly Fly-out
