Website http://co-opa.com March 2021, Vol. 21, Issue 3 President's Message: Spring is not quite here yet. Bulbs are sending up leaves, but no flowers yet. And in the HIgh Desert that means high wind gusts will stay in the forecasts. A good time to stay inside and join or monthly CO-OPA Video teleconference. Many of us have, or are getting our COVID shots. Limited indoor dining is allowed again. Maybe next month we can meet in person again? The snowbrirds shoud have returned by then as well. Jitsi worked well the last two months, so we’ll try it again for this month’s meeting at 5:30pm on the usual Third Thursday (18 March): https://meet.jit.si/CO-OPA Dial-in: +1.512.647.1431 PIN: 1337 0454 96# Or use the Jitsi app on your phone or tablet: https://jitsi.org/downloads/ The weather.gov forecast is for rain/snow Friday and Friday Night. Saturday is mostly sunny, 30% of snow and winds up to 23mph. Contrarywise Wundergound.com has Saturday at 50% cloud cover and 12% chance of snow. Chrintmas Valley has a dry forecast, mostly sunny, but 26 mph gusts. My guess is that many of our pilots will not want to risk high gusts. Like last month, maybe meet for breakfast at the new “CJ’s @ the Airport” and see how things look. Four CO-OPA member showed up for a wonderful breakfast, and were joined breifly by many other local pilots not savvy enough to be OPA members yet. A typical “Bend Blue Bowl” day. The sky was clear and blue in the vicinity of the Bend Airport. But from the cafe we could see clouds down to the ground out ten or twenty miles. It might have been possible to squeek out to Madras (S33). With weather comeing in from that direction getting back might have become a problem. Days like that one make a good Fly-out day all the more precious..
