Website http://co-opa.com April 2017, Vol. 17, Issue 3 President's Message: My daffodils are blooming, that means Spring 2017 is starting. Come to our April Meeting, this Third Thursday of the month, April 20th, and share your Spring cheer with fellow pilots. The usual applies. Come to the Professional Air waiting room, in the big green building on Bend Municpal Airport (KBDN). Arrive at 6pm for the usual chatter, we will do potluck at 6:30pm, and finish up with a short formal meeting at 7pm. Hope to see you all there, sit’s flying weather and we have flying to talk about! Omigosh, the weather for our Fly-out day will be the warmest so far of the year. Forecast high in the low 60’s. Winds 7 to 12 mph and partly cloudy. At least according to intellicast.com. We need to go somewhere and knock the dust off our airplanes and the rust off our skills. Bring your ideas for a nice Spring destination. Weather.gov seems to think there is a 20% chain of rain, so we will have to wait until late Friday to know for sure. Calendar: 20 April – Monthly Meeting 22 April – Monthly Fly-out 18 May – Monthly Meeting 20 May – Monthly Fly-Out 15 June – Monthly Meeting 19 June – Monthly Fly-out My Inbox: The EAA’s B-17G, named Aluminum Overcast is coming to Bend Municipal Airport (KBDN). The sell guided tours, and even rides. The ride of a lifetime, and probably no one will shoot at you in the air. Just standing on the ramp while she takes off, listening to the four Wright Cyclones, each with 930hp, is an experience. The plane is so big that at take off speed it seems to be just floating in the air. Then try to imagine how a Luftwaffe pilot felt when he saw 1,000 of these coming towards him, each with 13 fifty-caliber machine guns and almost 18,000 pounds of bombs.
