Website http://co-opa.com April 2024, Vol. 24, Issue 2 President's Message: The daffodils are up, the neighbors are doing Spring Cleaning. And good flying weather is here. Come discuss it at our April meeting on the 18th. the Third Thursday of the month, Head on over to the Bend Builders Assist hanger, 63030 Powell Butte Road, on the south west corner of KBDN, at 6pm. Bring your own dinner, and we’ll eat right away before food get cold. As always, many thanks go out to Mike Robertson, and Mike Wissing, for letting us use their space. Madras Airport Day: Madras Airport )S33) will host an Airport Day, and Yourg Eagles event on June 1st, from 8am to 1pm. The event will be open to the public and free for attendees. This will be an opportunity for pilots, aviation businesses, and flight schools to highlight what is available in aviation through careers and education. To make this event a success, aviation business, pilots, aircraft mechanics along with volunteers will work together to share aviation with our community. If you are interested in collaborating on the event, then call Lorraine Martinelly, Madras Airport Manager. at 541-777-4935/ Proposed Rules and Regulations Another month, still silence from the City of Bend about a red-lined copy of the Airport Rules and Regulations. No news, is just no news. Your guess about where the city is at is as good mine. Fingers crossed. Visit the Friends of Bend Airport (FoBA) website for the latest: https://friendsofbendairport.com/ ZSE, DSD, KRDM: The airpsace around Redmond Airport (KRDM), and its approach and departure corridors, continues to be problematic. But it is improving. The current problem area is just Northwest of the Prineville Airport (S39). Traffic doing a long straight in to runway 33 will be flying under the approach for KRDM runway 23. Even when you are below the approach corridor, ZSE must assume nothing about you altitude, unless they have verified your altitude. So keep it tight.there Be sure to always listen on 126.15 when you are within about 30 miles of KRDM. Then, and ONLY then, squawk 1237, to let ZSE know you are listening. Squawking 1237 when you are not listening on 126.15 may cause extra confusion.
