Website: http://co-opa.com/ May 2011, Vol. 11, Issue 4 President's Message: Many thanks to Nan Garnick, last month's guest speaker. We were among the first to hear that Butler Aircraft had secured a 10 year fire fighting contract with the state of Oregon. With job security in hand they are going to be looking around for new water bomber options, maybe even a Q400. Also good to know our local representation on the Oregon Department of Aviation is so good. Nan invited us all up to their monthly BBQ at their Madras hanger every 3rd Thursday for lunch. CO-OPA will meet downstairs for the usual unusually good mingling at 6pm, our world renowned potluck at 6:30pm and on to the meeting at 7pm. April Fly-Not: Continuing our bad streak, the weather was spotty in April. Luckily the 2011 FAA Safety Stand Down was in town on our fly-out day and a large crop of our members showed up for the free event. We all have all the Wings ground school we need for this year. Now I need to schedule some CFI time and get a Wing. The long range weather for this Saturday does not look good either. The latest forecast is 30% chance of showers Saturday and Saturday night Random Thoughts: The Daffodils are almost over and the Apple trees are just starting to bloom. Long past time for the good flying weather to get started. Once again another beautiful weekday today, to be followed by another wet weekend. Time to start making that list of destinations for this summer! – Gary E. Miller Newsletter Inputs: Send your newsletter tidbits to: gem@rellim.com
