Website http://co-opa.com May 2017, Vol. 17, Issue 4 President's Message: I thought it was Spring, then it snowed in Bend this week. At least it is supposed to be mostly sunny with a high of 71F on Saturday. If you believe Intellicast. Weather.gov is even more optimistic, they forecast Sunny, high 73F and calm winds in the morning, becoming 5 to 7mph in the afternoon. And just in case you have not been keeping your calendar up to date, the Third Thursday of the month (May 18) is our monthly meeting. Head to the Professional Air waiting room, in the big green building on Bend Municipal Airport (KBDN). Arrive at 6pm for the usual chatter, we will do potluck at 6:30pm, and finish up with a short formal meeting at 7pm. Not only do we have this month’s Fly-Out to discuss, we have an extra Fly-out for June to plan. Kim Muinch is organizing a trip to Grand Coulee Dam, Electric City Airport (3W7) in concert with the Washington Pilots Association. The trip will be an over night camping trip. Highlighting the trip will be a 30 minute laser light show on the dam at 10pm. Instead we had maintenance issues and scheduling issues. So we headed out to iHop for a “Fly-not”. Only to find that they were also down for maintenance: a failed water heater. Luckily Cheerleaders, just across 3rd Street, was open for breakfast and had room for us. In the end our group was well fed and happy. Can our string of failed Fly-outs get any longer? Did You Know? ORS 837.020 and ORS 837.040 requires that every pilot and aircraft that is based, or operating commercially, within Oregon to register with the Oregon Department of Aviation.  By law, registration must take place within 60 days of issuance of any “appropriate effective federal certificate, permit, rating or license relating to competency as a pilot” – with the exception of student pilots, who must register prior to their first solo flight.
