President's Message:

Oh my, a late wet Spring, but flying weather is looking up now, as
long as you don’t mind a bit of wind. Bring your thoughts to our
CO-OPA Monthly Meeting on the 19th of May,, the usual Third Thursday
of the month. We’ll gather in the Bend Builders Assist hanger, 63030
Powell Butte Road, on the south west corner of KBDN, at 6pm.

Bring your own dinner, and we’ll eat right away before food get
cold. As always, many thanks go out to Mike Robertson, and Mike Wissing,
for letting us use their space.

The forecast in Bend for Saturday is for Mostly Sunny, a high of
64F and winds 5 to 10 mph. The forecasts for Salem and Newport are
similar. So we have a lot of options on destinations. Where should we
fly? Let’s decide at the meeting, and an email blast will go out
Friday with the details of our (hopefully) final destination.

Airshow of the Cascades:

The list of acts for this year’s Madras Airshow keeps growing. So
much so, that the Friday and Saturday shows will be very different.
The Army Golden Knights parachute team will be returning from last
year. Also returning the B-17 Sentimental Journey joined by her sister
B-25. The EA-18 Growler demonstration team is also on the schedule. The
Growlers will bring two EA-18s, and a P-51 Mustang. When the Air Force
found out that the Army and Navy would be at the show, they called and
asked if we would like two A-10s? The answer of course, is: YES! Not
last, and not least, this will be the great Bud Granley’s last airshow
ever! So save the date: Thursday August 25th to Saturday the 27th.
Fly-ins welcome.

Open House:

There will be an open house for the Bend Airport on Monday May 23
from 5PM to 7PM at CJ’ @ The Airport. City staff will be there to
provide updates on the airport master plan, the September and October
2022 runway closures, the proposed Bend Air Traffic Control Tower
project, pending hangar development proposals and more.

Fly-out (not):

We had a nice turnout for the May CO-OPA Monthly Meeting, and the
weather forecast for our Fly-out day was good, but everyone had some
reason they could not attend our Fly-out day. Plus CJ's was to be closed
that day.

So, in a rare decision, we decided to punt on the April Fly-out, and
no breakfast either.
