Website: http://co-opa.com July 2012, Vol. 12, Issue 7 President's Message: Weather dampened last month's Bend Airport Day. Still, those that showed up found out that any day at the airport is a good day. Breakfast and lunch were good and the people were the best. All the work to the north of the Gas Pumps is now complete. Now it is the turn for the south end to be ripped up. That means tenants in the south hangers will need to taxi on the ramp to the FBO before getting to the runway. Access will be tight so be carfull on the south ramp for traffic. Our hearts were with Kent Couch on his recent cluster balloon trip, but the weather was not. First the winds pushed him almost up to Madras, and then most of the back to Bend. Then hail broke 35 of his 300 helium balloons. Kent still plans another cluster balloon trip this fall. The trip will be in Iraq to raise awareness about the plight of Iraqi orphans. You can read up a bit more on the flgith on Kent's web site: http://www.couchballoons.com/ Random Thoughts: Very sad news this month. One of our own, Norma Wilfong, has passed on after a long fight with cancer. Norma will be missed by all that knew her. Don has requested that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made in her name to the CO-OPA Christmas Charity fund. Make checks out to “Central Oregon Chapter of the Oregon Pilots Association”. Norma spearheaded the fund for many years and through it really made a difference in many deserving childrens lives. May she continue to serve as a guiding spirit for us and the charity for many years to come. Newsletter Inputs: Send your newsletter tidbits to: gem@rellim.com
