President's Message:

Head on over to the Bend Builders Assist hanger, 63030 Powell
Butte Road, on the south west corner of KBDN, on July 20th (the Third
Thursday) at 6pm for our monthly meeting. Kim Muinch has a presentation
for us about the recent Oregon Disaster Airlift Response Team (ODART)
exercise. It was named Whale Run 23.

Bring your own dinner, and we’ll eat right away before food get
cold. As always, many thanks go out to Mike Robertson, and Mike Wissing,
for letting us use their space.

Ken Fayal has offered to lead Fly-outs but he and John Foster are
headed out to Oshkosh. Anyone want to fly somewhere this month?

Airshow of the Cascades:

2023 should be another great airshow. The Friday night show will
be by Manfred Radius in his glider. Followed by fireworks. If current
plans work out, the Saturday show will end with a Sport Class Air Race
Demonstration. The demonstration will have small airplanes racing on a
closed course around 6 pylons at speeds over 200 mph. Both shows will
feature the West Coast Ravens, the T-33 Acemaker, and much more!

The Airshow needs lots of volunteers. Jobs for the aviation savvy
are open on the flight line and in the hot box. A great way to see the
performers up close. Volunteers get a free t-shirt, free admission,
meals, drinks and the Thursday night Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.

Oregon Pilots Association:

The 2023 OPA Annual Convention will be at Aurora Aiport (KUAO) on
August 12th. The meeting is in the lovely Columbia Aviation Association
(CAA) club house next to the control tower. The convention is a great
way to learn more about flying and meet OPA member from around the
state.

Fly-out:

I guess there was a June Fly-out. The plan was to meet at the EAA
breakfast in Prineville (S39) and then make a final decision. After
that, some flying happened…
