Website: http://co-opa.com August 2013, Vol. 8, Issue 13 President's Message: Sumer is no over yet, but you can see the end from here. Except the smoke makes it a bit hard to see. With luck we probably have 2 months of good weather left so let's all go out and get some flying in, then come to our meeting to chat about it. 6PM meet at KBDN Flight Services Building as usual on third Thursday of the month. Bring something for the potluck at 6:30pm and stay for the group meeting at 7pm. An of course stick around for a bit of cleanup, let's try to leave the place cleaner than we found it. The weather looks good for our fly-out this weekend, only a slight chance of pesky thunderstorms for fly-out Saturday. Then keep your fingers crossed that things are clear for the airshow up in Madras the week after. You can head up to madras for the always great Airshow of the Cascades on 23/24 August at Madras Airport (S33). Or you can head to the OPA Annual Convention on 24 August at Albany Airport (S12). Or do Madras on Friday night and Albany on Saturday. Both have great programs this year. More details on their web sites: http://www.oregonpilot.org/ http://www.cascadeairshow.com/ July Fly-Out: July was hot, and so was our Fly-out day. Perfect time to head up into the mountains. For our Fly-out we headed to Prospect State Airport (64S) for their annual Search and Rescue Fly-in. Don Wilfong in N20757 and Gary Miller in N6157R made the trip down and camped overnight on the field. Attendance was way down this year, but those that did attend had a great time. To make matters worse, just as the Steak Dinner started serving the Search and Rescue people were called out to a river gorge rescue. It could have been an overnight job, but things worked out well and they managed to get back in time for a cold dinner. It is hard to believe the airport is only at 2,550 feet as you feel like you are in the cool mountain air when there. And if the climate is not gentle enough for you the Rogue River is just a short walk downhill. Newsletter Inputs: Send your newsletter tidbits to: gem@rellim.com
