President's Message:

The heat is off (fingers crossed) but we still have smoke.  Not the
best flying weather, but take what we can get.

This third Thursday of the month, August 15th, come join us at the
Bend Builders Assist hanger, 63030 Powell Butte Road, on the south
west corner of KBDN, at 6pm.  Bring your own dinner, and we’ll eat
right away before food get cold.  As always, many thanks go out to Mike
Robertson, and Mike Wissing, for letting us use their space.

LTA-ZSE-31

If you check NOTAMs for Redmond (RDM), and other local airports, you
will get a link to LTA-ZSE-31.  In lain language: Letter to Airman from
Seattle Center, Number 31”.  Be sure to check it out.  It details the
current recommended procedures for aviation opeartions in the Deschutes
VOR/Redmond Airport area.  A good textual description, plus chart
overlays of the RDM jet corridors.  Nothing mandatory, but an attempt
to delay the day when we are forced into a mandatory “Central Oregon
Approach Control”.  The life you save, may be your won.

We all know about 1200, 1237, 7500, 7600 and 7700.  But here are some new to me:

	1202 – VFR Glider
	1255 – VFR Firefighing Aircraft
	1277 – VFR SAR
	4000 – VFR Military Training

July Fly-out:

Ken and Sherri Fayal met Larry Hagermeyer, from Lebanonm for
breakfast at the Star Duster Too cafe at Independence Airpotr.  Ken flew
down to Lebanon to get $5.99 / gallon fuel on the way back He got lots
of pictures of all the fires on the way out, On the way back home it was
smokey high up around that TFR just west of Lebanon all the way back
into Bend.

Proposed Rules and Regulations

It looks like the city is prepared to make some compromises on
ground lease transfer and insurance requirements.  Otherwise little to
no progress on any of the other issues.  The city is now preparing a
“Final” draft based on the second round of comments.  The second
round comments were similar to the first round comments, so expect to be
disappointed in the results.
