Website http://co-opa.com September 2024, Vol. 24, Issue 7 President's Message: 2,000,000 million acres have burned in Oregon, so far, this year. The previous high was 1,140,000 acres in 2020. Come to our meeting and share how this has affected your flying this year, and going forward. This third Thursday of the month, September 19th, come join us at the Bend Builders Assist hanger, 63030 Powell Butte Road, on the south west corner of KBDN, at 6pm. Bring your own dinner, and we’ll eat right away before food get cold. As always, many thanks go out to Mike Robertson, and Mike Wissing, for letting us use their space. Jordan Chicken Run: Sunday September 22nd is the 90th Annual Jordan Chick Run! The event includes Gillette Field (OR51) a nice 2,800 foot long wide grass runway. This time of year it will have little grass and be a hard surface. Perfect for those that are not comfortable with grass strips. Unicom is on 128.9. All you can eat chicken dinner, starting at 10:30am, until about 2pm. Lots of airplanes will fly in, plus a car show, craft vendors, and more. Madras Pilot Gathering: There will be a pilot gathering on Madras Airport (S33) the September 21st. Event kick off with a group photo op on the runway at 4pm, followed by a $10 BBQ at 5pm and some casual presentations. Ending with a late night movie at the FBO and camping on the airport lawn., Sunday morning will feature a pancake breakfast at 8am for $10. Contact the S33 FBO for details. OPA Annual Conference: Similar to the last few years, the Oregon Pilots Association will have their annual conference on Aurora Aiport, at the Columbia Aviation Association building. In the morning there will be an the AOPA Rusty Pilots Seminar, with some OPA twists. In the afternoon there are more presentations and time for socialization. Well worth the trip over the rocks to attend. More details on the OPA web site.
