Website http://co-opa.com October 2017, Vol. 17, Issue 8 President's Message: Fall is falling. Pilots are grabbing the few last nice days of great fall flying when they can. Come share your flying stories with the gang on this Third Thursday (October 20).. As always, you are cleared to the Professional Air waiting room, in the big green building on Bend Municipal Airport (KBDN). Arrive at 6pm for pilot chatter. Expect a clearance to proceed to the potluck starts at 6:30pm, and finish up with a short formal meeting at 7pm. 94% chance of rain, and 20 mph sustained winds, with gusts to 25, does not sound like good weather for our monthly fly-out. Calendar: 19 October – Monthly Meeting 21 October – Month Fly-Out 16 November – Monthly Meeting 18 November – Monthly Fly-Out 21 December – X-mas party 23 December – Monthly Fly-out Monthly Fly-out: For our September Fly-out we changed the date to Sunday, so we could get the Jordan 78th Annual Chicken Dinner-Car Show and Fly In. Located on the beautiful 2,900 foot runway on Gillette Airport. (OR51) A lot of cool planes, over 500 classic cars, and of course great chicken. Master Plans: Redmond Airport, KRDM, is now seeking input on their new Airport master Plan. If you are wondering why airports are the way they are you should read a few master plans. As the RDM plan stands now the runways would not be much changed. Runway 5-23 would be lengthened to about 10,000 feet. The taxiways, in contrast, would get a lot of changes. The plan also noted the need for a new and larger general Aviation area with an FBO and a lot of hangers, but no specific recommendations on what, where or how. You can see the 2017 proposal on their web site: http://www.flyrdm.com/?airport-publications--policies Not to be left behind, Bend Airport (KBDN) will be getting a $150,000 grant from the Oregon Department of Aviation (ODA) to update their four year old master plan. Keep an eye out for how that developes.
