Website http://co-opa.com October 2023, Vol. 23, Issue 10 President's Message: It is October 19th, the Third Thursday of the month, . Time for our October CO-OPA meeting. Head on over to the Bend Builders Assist hanger, 63030 Powell Butte Road, on the south west corner of KBDN, at 6pm for our monthly meeting. Bring your own dinner, and we’ll eat right away before food get cold. As always, many thanks go out to Mike Robertson, and Mike Wissing, for letting us use their space. Per our usual, there will be no December CO-OPA meeting. Stay tuned for details about the EAA 1345 holiday party. New Restaurant at KBDN: There is a new restaurant on the Bend Airport: Dogs and Fries. I’m told they are doing Breakfast and Lunch, but hours are not on their website. They may be there, but I can’t read their light gray text on light gray background… More information on their web site: https://dogsandfries.com 100LL: The EPA finally ruled this week that the lead in 100LL aviation fuel is dangerous. Who knew? Luckily, according to the AOPA, the EPA is not given the authority to ban, regulate, or limit aviation fuel. AOPA believes the current FAA plan to have unleaded fuel for available and certified for all aircraft before 2030, and ban 100LL by 2030, is still on schedule. Oooops: I had a brain fart, and let a domain squatter get control of co-opa.com. All the old and new content has moved over to co-opa.org. Hanger Ground Leases: The KBDN and KRDM airports are no longer extending the ground leases for hangers. They will still transfer ownership. You can’t get a loan to buy a hanger unless you have 30 or 35 years left on your ground lease. Most hangers on the west side have between 15 and 24 years left, making them very hard to sell. Friends or Bend Airport has taken up the case, holding meetings on the topic. The next one will be a Bend Builders Assist on October 21st at 9am. More information on their website: https://friendsofbendairport.com/ Calendar: 19 October – Monthly Meeting 21 October – Monthly Fly-out 16 November – Monthly Meeting 18 November – Monthly Fly-out December – NO Monthly Meeting 23 December – Monthly Fly-out??? Fly-out: Our normal Fly-out day was in conflict with an EAA Young Eagles event. Ken Fayal suggested the Sunrise Valley Ranch on the 23rd, and the 89th Annual Jordan Dinner for the 24th. I’ve had no reports. Newsletter Inputs: Current and past CO-OPA newsletters, are on our website at: https://co-opa.org Please send comments and story ideas to: gem@rellim.com
