Website http://co-opa.org October 2024, Vol. 24, Issue 8 President's Message: Wow. Last week Bend was in the 80s, but a hard freeze forecast for tonight. Time to transition from summer flying to winter flying. This third Thursday of the month, October 19th, come join us at the Bend Builders Assist hanger, 63030 Powell Butte Road, on the south west corner of KBDN, at 6pm. Bring your own dinner, and we’ll eat right away before food get cold. As always, many thanks go out to Mike Robertson, and Mike Wissing, for letting us use their space. KBDN Runway Renumbering: As an unintended side effect of climate change, the Earth’s magnetic field is shifting. The runway at KBDN will change from being 16/34 to 15/33.. This will require changes in airport signage, instrument approaches, chartage, etc. The hardest part will be requiring my brain. September Fly-out: The September Fly-out was to Siletz Bay. After landing they group headed out to Gleneden Beach Wayside before a harty lunch. OPA Annual Conference: Similar to the last few years, the Oregon Pilots Association will have their annual conference on Aurora Aiport, at the Columbia Aviation Association building. In the morning there will be an AOPA Rusty Pilots Seminar, with some OPA twists. In the afternoon there are more presentations and time for socialization. Well worth the trip over the rocks to attend. More details on the OPA web site. Calendar: 17 October – Monthly Meeting 19 October – Monthly Fly-out 19 October – OPA Convention 21 November – Monthly Meeting 23 November -- Monthly Fly-out December – NO Monthly Meeting KBDN Rules and Regulations The Bend City Council approved the new Airport Rules and Regulations. They did relent on renewing hanger leases, and a few other rules. But most of the silly stuff is still there. Our best hope is that no one ever reads them again...
