Website: http://co-opa.com November 2013, Vol. 11, Issue 13 President's Message: Just like every other third Tuesday of the month (except December) head on out to the KBDN Flight Services Building at 6pm. Bring something for the potluck at 6:30pm and stay for the group meeting at 7pm. There is a new Connect Oregon IV proposal to discuss as well and the other usual things. The weather for our fly-out looks good, so that needs a plan. We also need to plan Norma's Christmas Charity and our own holiday party. And please remember the meetings not done until everything is cleaner than we found it . Calendar: 21 November – Monthly Meeting 23 November – Monthly Fly-out 19 December – Holiday Party 21 December – Monthly Fly-out 16 January – Monthly Meeting 18 January – Monthly Fly-out 20 February – Monthly Meeting 22 February – Mnothly Fly-out My INBOX: DEAR CO-OPA MEMBERS: UP TO NOW OUR SON STEVEN WETHERALD HAS BEEN A TEACHER AT PILOT BUTTE MIDDLE CHOOL AND HAS HEADED UP THE SELECTION OF STUDENTS TO RECEIVE THE BENEFITS OF OUR CHARITY FUND. WELL STEVEN IS NOW AT BEND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND THE ONES HE WORKED WITH AT THE JR. HIGH WANT HIM TO TAKE THE PROGRAM WITH HIM. HE HAS SUGGESTED AND IS CHECKING INTO THE IDEA THAT HE AND A COMMITTEE (SOMEONE IN OUR GROUP COULD BE INCLUDED IF THEY WISH) SELECT A NEEDY AND DESERVING SENIOR THAT WANTS TO GO ON TO COLLEGE TO UPON STARTING TO COLLEGE BE AWARDED $500.00 TO HELP HIM OR HER GET GOING IN SCHOOL. IF THE SELECTED PERSON DID NOT START COLLEGE THEN A BACKUP PERSON WOULD RECEIVE THE AWARD. WE NOW HAVE $347.89 (MOSTLY DONATED TO HONOR NORMA'S MEMORY) TO HELP START THE PROGRAM. I WOULD LIKE A RESPONSE FROM AS MANY OF YOU AS POSSIBLE REGARDING YOUR OPINION OF THIS IDEA. I WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE NOV. DINNER/MEETING SO PLEASE EITHER E-MAIL ME wilfong.d at gmail.com OR GET YOUR RESPONSE TO GARY MILLER. THANK YOU DON WILFONG 541 389-1456 Web doings: If anyone has any cool links to add to the CO-OPA web page let me know. Of course there were the usual suspects: Mike and Ann Bond in their Cardinal, Don Wilfong in his Skywagon, and Maxwell and Gary Miller in their Centurion. They were met on Wasco Airport (35S) by Mary Rosenblum, the new OPA President and Kim Muinch, the new OPA Treasurer. Wasco is an old wheat farming town upgrading to a wind energy center and being surrounded by new orchards. Wasco was once in Wasco County but is now in Sherman County. It is on US Hwy 97 and is about 20 miles south east of The Dalles. The old Wasco Runway is now a taxiway and ramp that sits on the very edge of the small town. Only three short blocks to downtown, the Lean-To Cafe and The Goose Pit Saloon. Our group overloaded the kitchen staff, nothing unusual there, providing us with a lot of time time chat.
