Website http://co-opa.com November 2021, Vol. 21, Issue 11 President's Message: Time for the last CO-OPA Monthly Meeting of the year. On November 18th,, the usual Third Thursday of the month. Be in the Bend Builders Assist hanger, 63030 Powell Butte Road, on the south west corner of KBDN, at 6pm, or be square. Bring your own dinner, and we’ll eat right away before food get cold. Following our long standing practice, the CO-OPA will not meet in December, our next meeting will be in January. Get your aviation fix at the EAA Holiday Party. Maybe we can also get in a Fly-in. Once again, many thanks go out to Mike Robertson, and Mike Wissing, for letting us use their space. Weatherunderground guesses Sunny, 0% chance of rain, and light winds for our Fly-out day. The temperature will be 35F by 9am, and th high will be 49F. Weather.gov prognosticates similarly. Finally a good forecast! Newsletter Inputs: Check out current and past CO-OPA newsletters, view our membership list and view hot aviation links on our website at: http://co-opa.com Please send comments and story ideas to: gem@rellim.com Fly-out (not): Our luck has been running badly. The August, Septemeber and October Fly-out have turned into local breakfasts. Once again, several of us met at CJ’s at the airport to drown our sorrows in good coffee with a nice breakfast... Bend Airport Closures 2022: The City of Bend, and Century West Engineering, held a video conference to discuss planned closures in 2022 of the Bend Airport. Good news and bad news. The Bend Airport runway will get some serious runway and connector repairs and updates. There will be also new LED lights and signage. Paid for by the FAA, with our tax dollars. The hold short lines will be reduced from 250 feet, down to 200 feet. The runways will be renumbered from 16/34 to 17/35 due to the shift of the earth’s magnetic field. The bad news is that this requires two closures. The first will be about a 9 day total closure of the runway. The second will be about a 3 day total closure of the runway. Anyone wanting to fly during those times had better have moved their airplane to another airport ahead of time. There will not be any repairs to other parts of the airport, just the runway and connectors. EAA Holiday Party: RSVPs were very light, so our EAA local chapter 1345 has gone back to the drawing board on the EAA holiday party. Looks like it will be a potluck at Bend Builders Assist. Everyone is invited. Details are still TBD. I’ll email the CO-OPA when they become available. Or contact Lynn Anderson to get on her mailing list.
