Website http://co-opa.com November 2023, Vol. 23, Issue 11 President's Message: It is November 16th, the Third Thursday of the month, time for our monthly CO-OPA meeting. Head on over to the Bend Builders Assist hanger, 63030 Powell Butte Road, on the south west corner of KBDN, at 6pm for our monthly meeting. Bring your own dinner, and we’ll eat right away before food get cold. As always, many thanks go out to Mike Robertson, and Mike Wissing, for letting us use their space. Per our usual, there will be no December CO-OPA meeting. Looks like the EAA Holiday Party has limited capacity and is already sold out. Next CO-OPA will be in the dark and cold of January. Airplanes 4 Sale: Faye Phillips reports that her nice Cherokee is for sale. Gary Miller is also selling T210F. Anyone want to buy and airplane? Oooops: I had a brain fart, and let a domain squatter get control of co-opa.com. All the old and new content has moved over to co-opa.org. Calendar: 16 November – Monthly Meeting 18 November – Monthly Fly-out December – NO Monthly Meeting 23 December – Monthly Fly-out??? 18 January – Monthly Meeting 20 January – Monthly Fly-out Newsletter Inputs: Current and past CO-OPA newsletters, are on our website at: https://co-opa.org Please send comments and story ideas to: gem@rellim.com Proposed Rules and Regulations Not content with annoying all the ground lease holders, the City of Bend is now coming for the rest of us. They have proposed numerous changes to the Airport Rules and Regulations. They essentially ban independent CFIs, independent A&Ps, independent IAs, all drones, small ground schools, small commercial operations, non-KBDN based CFIs, etc. Something to annoy everyone! The City claims to be doing this to abide by FAA Grant Assurances, but the FAA people I have talked to said they had never heard of any rules this wacky. Grant assurances require the city to treat all airport users fairly and equally, not ban most of them outright. The AOPA is also examining the document and may have comments for us later. More info on the city web site: https://www.bendoregon.gov/government/departments/transportation-mobility/bend-municipal-airport/airport-rules-and-regulations There will be another open house on the topic on November 29, from 5-7 pm in City Council Chambers. Public comments, limited to 1,000 characters, can be left on this page: http://www.bendoregon.gov/government/departments/real-estate/airport-public-comments Please leave your comments soon. The deadline for comments is December 8th. Friends or Bend Airport has taken up the case, holding meetings on the topic. More information on their website: https://friendsofbendairport.com/
